The Nielsen Company today announced that James Russo has been appointed vice president of marketing for the food and beverage industry sector. Russo will report to Ed Franczek, senior vice president of marketing.
In this newly-created role, Russo will lead the company’s efforts to support its food and beverage clients by leveraging and customizing Nielsen’s broad array of insights and analytics to enhance its growth strategies. Russo will identify and develop new products and consumer insights for Nielsen’s food and beverage industry clients, including food and beverage manufacturers and grocery retailers.
“The food and beverage industry represents a vital growth opportunity for Nielsen,” said Franczek. “While we already serve many companies in this sector, James’ appointment will bring an even deeper focus to drive our strategy forward and help our clients solve their specific business issues, including the unique challenges they face given the current U.S. economic state.”
Russo brings more than 16 years of experience in marketing, sales, business development and research positions across the retail and manufacturing industries, including seven years with Nielsen. During his time with Nielsen, Russo secured major pieces of new business for the company and led cross-functional teams to deliver consumer insights to senior consumer packaged goods (CPG) executives. Russo rejoins Nielsen from TNS Retail Forward, where he served as vice president of Business Development. Earlier, Russo held market research positions with TDK Electronics and Genovese Drug Stores. He holds an MBA and bachelor’s degree from St. John’s University.
